Poisons are a very important thing for rogues in world of warcraft. They give them the ability to slow down run speed, slow casting speed, lower healing the target receives and dots/direct dmg all through different poisons they can receive. Rogues cant make poisons until they hit level 20 and start a quest. After you've completed that quest you gain the ability to start making poisons. You'll need to visit a poison vendor to acquire all the supplies to start making the poisons though. Here is a picture of where one is located in Ironforge.
Some of the different poisons you can make are crippling poison, instant poison, mind-numbing poison, deadly poison, and wound poison. Each does a different thing.
